FOR WORKERS, SELF-EMPLOYED and SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS:

Onslow County has been declared one of the NC Counties whose workers, self-employed persons and small business owners that have been, or will be, unable to work due to Florence can receive assistance through the NC Department of Commerce’s Division of Employment Security. The first step is to apply for assistance at 1-866-795-8877 or online at  https://des.nc.gov/des .  Additional information is available by calling the Onslow County NCWorks office: 910-347-2121.

Onslow County has also been approved to receive disaster food stamps, effective beginning September28th.  Also, the program has been temporarily expanded to cover hot meals.  This assistance provides relief to those who have lost food or been unable to obtain food due to Hurricane Florence.  As the NC Social Services office just reopened today, specific details about how this process will be managed are currently unavailable.  Please monitor local television and radio stations as well as NC DSS_Disaster Food Stamps for updates.
